Jessica Chastain As A Smart And Sexy Poker Game Operator

Jessica Chastain lights up this light weekend of movie openings. She stars as a real-life former Olympic skier turned mistress of a very high-stakes roaming poker game. This new Jessica Chastain movie is further enhanced by having both script and direction handled by The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin.

Otherwise, the only other new film of interest might be the new Sion Sono film. The Japanese cult director takes a stab at directing an arty porno film where things are not what you expect.


Japanese cult director Sion Sono makes a bizarre contribution to Nikkatsu’s “Roman Porno Reboot Project.” Writer/artist Kyoto lives in a glorious loft apartment with her older personal assistant Noriko. The writer/artist regularly amuses herself humiliating her assistant. Yet Kyoto can’t escape her self-doubt or the emotional imprisonment of her celebrity lifestyle. And then the relationship between Kyoto and Noriko gets upended in the most unexpected manner…

Forensics expert Mi Nan enlists criminal psychologist Fang Mu’s help in solving a series of bizarre crimes. What connects a classroom killing to an apartment block fire? The killings’ perpetrator, the “Light of the City,” becomes an online hero thanks to his straightforward brand of “justice.” But while Fang Mu tries to stop the Light of the City, the killer makes his murders increasingly sadistic.

Running a Hollywood high-stakes poker game attracting everyone from actors to gambling addicts turns out to be Molly’s new endeavor. Her success lasts until Russian mafia figures start secretly playing in the game and the FBI knocks down her door. Now this tough-minded, fast-talking woman needs the help of defense attorney Charlie Jaffey (Idris Elba) to stay out of prison.
